India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, has officially taken delivery of India’s first Boeing 737 MAX 9. This ultra-long-range business jet is valued at approximately Rs 1,000 crore. It has become the most expensive private jet owned by any Indian business tycoon. Apart from this new jet, Reliance Industries also has a fleet of nine other private jets. The Boeing 737 MAX 9 recently arrived in India after several modifications and tests of flight.

Mukesh Ambani’s Boeing Modifications In Switzerland

The Boeing 737 MAX 9, now part of Mukesh Ambani’s private fleet, has undergone through major cabin modifications and interior upgrades at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) in Switzerland prior to its delivery. The aircraft was at the Swiss facility from April 13, 2023, where authorities took multiple test flights to check that all the new features were functioning perfectly. Before its delivery to India, the private jet completed six test flights between Basel, Geneva, and London Luton airports.

Mukesh Ambani’s Private Jet Delivery In India

The final flight from Basel to Delhi took place on August 27, 2024, it was a total journey of over nine hours and covering a distance of 6,234 kilometers. The Boeing 737 MAX 9 arrived in Delhi on August 28. Its arrival also made it one of the country’s most exclusive and expensive private jets. Currently, the jet is parked at a maintenance apron near the cargo terminal at Delhi Airport. According to some media reports the aircraft will soon head to Mumbai, where Reliance’s headquarters are situated.

Ambani’s Boeing 737 MAX 9 Specifications

The Boeing 737 MAX 9 is one of the world’s most expensive jets, powered by two CFMI LEAP-1B engines. The aircraft can cover an impressive distance of 6,355 nautical miles (11,770 kilometers) in a single journey.

While the base price of the Boeing 737 MAX 9 is $118.5 million, it does not include the cost of cabin retrofitting and interior modifications completed in Switzerland. According to the media reports, the Ambani family might have spent over Rs 1,000 crore on it. The 737 MAX 9 offers a larger cabin and cargo space compared to its predecessor, the Boeing MAX 8.

Reliance Industries’ Private Jet List

Mukesh Ambani’s Boeing 737 MAX 9 is just one of the many aircraft in the Reliance Industries’ private fleet, which currently includes 10 private jets. The collection has an Airbus A319 ACJ, which has been in service for over 18 years, and two Bombardier Global 5000 jets.

The fleet includes, Bombardier Global 6000 which is a high-speed, long-range jet suitable for intercontinental travel. Dassault Falcon 900s is known for their efficiency and reliability. Embraer ERJ-135 aircraft has been serving the company for over 16 years.

Helicopters For Short-Distance Travel

Reliance Industries also owns two helicopters for shorter routes. Dauphin Helicopter, which is commonly used for quick commutes between offices and company sites and  Sikorsky S76 is another luxury helicopter that ensures short-distance travel is efficient and comfortable.
