Badlapur Rape Accused’s Mother Alleges Conspiracy in Son’s Death, Demands Probe
The mother of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case who was killed by police on Monday, has refuted the official version of the incident and claims her son was murdered as part of a larger conspiracy between the police and the school management.Speaking to India Today/Aajtak, Alka Shinde said, “Akshay Shinde’s murder was a planned conspiracy. The police have killed my child. The school management must also be probed along with the police. We will not accept Akshay’s body until there is an investigation and the culprits are punished.”
Mother Disputes Police Claims, Alleges Custodial Torture
Shinde’s mother and uncle questioned the police version and asserted he could not have snatched the weapon of a policeman, as he was afraid of bursting crackers and crossing the road. They claim Akshay told his mother during a meeting that he was being beaten up by police in custody.
Maharashtra Govt Orders Action Against Badlapur Police Officials
In response to the allegations, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the suspension of the senior police inspector, assistant sub-inspector, and head constable of Badlapur police station for delay in taking action in the initial stages of the case.The school management has also suspended the principal, a class teacher, and a female attendant involved in the case.
Bombay HC Emphasizes Need for Strong Case, Educating Boys
The Bombay High Court had earlier warned the police to prepare a strong and reliable case, and not to rush with the filling of the chargesheet due to public pressure. The court also emphasized the importance of educating boys, with Justice Dere stating, “It is very crucial to educate the boy and save the girl.”
