The problem with Kejriwal is that if he hands over the power to someone who will start opening his files, hands over to someone who will stop the flow of money, then he will be ruined. This is not a normal transaction; this is a business deal, the shares are being transferred. No sacrifice to anyone else.

The suspense over who would become Delhi’s chief minister, once Arvind Kejriwal submits his resignation, persisted Monday, amid meetings between him and Manish Sisodia, and a huddle of AAP’s top decision-making body to consider names. All eyes are now on the meeting of the AAP legislative party at 11.30am on Tuesday.
Once the new CM has been chosen – if everything goes according to script so far and barring any surprises – Kejriwal will meet lieutenant governor V K Saxena at 4.30pm to submit his resignation.
Simultaneously, the name of the new CM, as proposed by the legislative party, will also be handed over to the LG. It was not clear whether the new leader of the legislative party will accompany Kejriwal or stake claim later.
Once the CM resigns, the entire cabinet will have to follow suit. The new leader of the legislative party will pick a new council of ministers who will take oath of office. Majority will then have to be proved on the floor of the House. “The entire pro cess may take a week,” said a senior party functionary.
This turn of events was prompted by Kejriwal’s unexpected announcement Sunday that he would resign. Addressing party workers, he said he would not occupy the CM’s chair unless the people gave him a “certificate of honesty”. He had also mentioned that another member of the party would take over as CM.
Kejriwal’s move may have been prompted by the curbs imposed on him by Supreme Court while granting him bail. SC has barred him from signing files other than the ones needed for LG’s approval, and also prohibited him from visiting the Secretariat. Effectively, this confines him to his official residence and could hamper his functioning.
Playing the “honesty” card by asking people to vote for the party only if they considered him honest, Kejriwal has set the campaign theme for the elections. That he called for early polls, along with Maharashtra in Nov, but not sought dissolution of assembly has sent the signal that AAP will carry out a longdrawn campaign. Election Commission sources have anyway indicated that early polls are not possible as electoral rolls are being revised.
