Amit Shah’s Bold Prediction: Naxalism to End by March 2026, Urges Maoists to Surrender
In a strong statement aimed at eradicating left-wing extremism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a deadline of March 31, 2026, to completely eliminate Naxalism from India. Speaking to victims of Naxal violence from Chhattisgarh, Shah appealed to Maoists to give up violence, lay down arms and surrender, warning that an all-out operation will be launched against them if they fail to do so.
Narendra Modi’s Resolve to End Naxalism
Shah asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to wipe out Naxal violence and ideology from the country. He claimed that the Modi government has been successful in ending Naxalism in the entire country except for four districts of Bastar in Chhattisgarh.”March 31, 2026, has been fixed as the last day of Naxalism in this country and I ensure that we will finish Naxalism before that,” Shah said, addressing the victims at his residence in New Delhi.
Significant Success in Anti-Naxal Operations
The Home Minister acknowledged the significant success achieved by security forces in their operations against Maoists. He revealed that the problem is now confined to just four districts of Chhattisgarh, a far cry from the Maoists’ earlier dream of establishing a corridor from Pashupatinath (Nepal) to Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh).
Welfare Schemes for Victims
To address the concerns of Naxal violence-affected people in Chhattisgarh, the Union Home Ministry will soon chalk out a welfare scheme in close coordination with the state government. Shah assured the victims that the Centre will help them through measures in areas such as jobs, healthcare and other essential needs.
Maoists Urged to Surrender
Shah drew parallels with the situation in the Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir, where many people have surrendered guns and joined the mainstream. He extended a similar invitation to Maoists, saying, “If you don’t listen, then an all-out operation will be carried out soon to end the menace.”
Commitment to Establishing Rule of Law
The Home Minister emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Home Ministry to establish the rule of law across the country. He reiterated the government’s determination to uproot Naxalism and its ideology from the nation.
Conclusion
Amit Shah’s bold prediction and appeal to Maoists mark a significant shift in the government’s approach to tackling left-wing extremism. The deadline of March 2026 sets a clear timeline for the eradication of Naxalism, while the welfare schemes aim to address the concerns of affected communities. As the government intensifies its efforts, it remains to be seen whether the Maoists will heed the call for surrender or face the consequences of an all-out operation. The success of this strategy will depend on a multifaceted approach that combines security measures with developmental initiatives and rehabilitation efforts.
